Winter weather in the Lake District isn't always as bad as you might imagine. Many of the images in this gallery were taken during the coldest season, and they quite often turn out to be some of the most colourful. Also, the colder air brings a clarity that you just don't get in the hotter hazy days of summer. Compare this image with a similar one near the end of this gallery and you will see what I mean.
